Vice President of Finance
James Hutson joined an affiliate of the Ezra Company in the fall of 1999 as a Senior Financial Analyst. He has been involved in both project development accounting and lease review and lease administration.
He has over twelve years experience in commercial property management with a focus on managing both downtown and suburban office as well as flex and industrial properties. Most of this experience has been for institutional third party investors. His responsibilities have included financial reporting, short and long term cash flow projections, annual budgeting and long range capital improvement forecasting. He has been involved in numerous property transitions performing lease analysis and property assessments, the coordination of environmental and engineer audits, the correction of deferred maintenance, and the addressing of outstanding tenant issues for new ownerships. He has prepared business plans to stabilize properties and increase occupancies and assisted in the marketing and due diligence process for buyers and sellers. He also has experience in the contracting and supervision of tenant renovation work and building renovations.
Mr. Hutson holds the BOMA designation of Real Property Administrator. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Frostburg State University and a Masters of Science in Real Estate from The Johns Hopkins University with a concentration in Institutional Real Estate Investment. In addition, he was commissioned as second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from college and served four years active duty from 1983 to 1987 as a logistics officer. Upon leaving active duty, Mr Hutson continued to serve in the Marine Corps reserve and retired in 2004 as lieutenant colonel.
